Full Q&A
What inspired you to start Mrose Health & Fitness?
After my professional basketball career came to an end due to injury, the timing of starting Mrose Health & Fitness couldn’t have been more aligned. It connected perfectly with a long-standing passion of mine—helping others become better versions of themselves.
What challenges have you faced as a woman in this industry?
There’s often pressure around appearance in the fitness industry, but I don’t let outside noise distract me—I stay focused on my purpose, which is helping people feel strong, healthy, and confident.
What moment are you most proud of?
Although It's hard to choose just one moment, but what stands out most is seeing my clients hit meaningful milestones—getting stronger, regaining their independence, moving through daily activities with more ease, or even running for the first time in their adulthood. Those moments are incredibly rewarding and remind me why I do what I do.
How do you define success?
Success is about making a real difference—helping people get stronger, more confident, and move through life with a bit more ease. It’s not just about physical changes, but about building better habits and independence over time.
What impact do you hope to have on the next generation of girls in sport?
I hope to show the next generation of girls in sport that their path doesn’t have to look one way. No path is perfect, and when going through adversity, it’s about staying confident, leaning into your inner strength, and believing in yourself. Setbacks don’t define them—how you react to them does. Most of all, I want them to be their true selves, take up space, and know they belong wherever they go.
Who has inspired you?
Yes—my mom, great aunt, and cousin have all been big influences on me. I’m also inspired by anyone who’s overcome adversity and kept going. I’ve had a few coaches who mentored me and shared what to expect at different stages of my life, and at the time it didn’t always fully make sense, but looking back, that guidance was really helpful and became clear when I needed it most.
What is one piece of advice you would give to young girls who want to be involved in sports (in any capacity)?
One piece of advice I’d give is to stay confident in who you are and not be afraid to take up space. There will be challenges, but trust your work ethic, stay consistent, and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. If you love it, keep going because growth takes time.
What does representation mean to you?
Representation in sport means seeing people like me in spaces where I once felt I didn’t belong. It builds belief, shows what’s possible, and helps make those spaces feel more accessible for the next generation.
Outside of sport, who are you?
I love traveling and being immersed in different cultures. I also enjoy refereeing basketball and watching the next generation improve their craft. I’m big on hiking and outdoor activities, and I really value spending quality time with my friends and family.
Being a women in the game, beyond the game means...
Being a woman in the game, beyond the game means using my experience in sport to create impact that goes beyond competition. It’s about growth, resilience, and helping others—especially the next generation—see what’s possible for them both in sport and in life.
Closing:
Womxn Ball exists to show that there is space for you in sports — in every role, at every level.
